The wrist and shoulder pieces could definitely be seen as dragon hide armor. I will post more pics as we decide on different aspects of the "look".
It literally means sewing magic. This blog will be a showcase for all my varied costume endeavors. I have been sewing for about 25 years. I enjoy the fantasy and science fiction realm. I like to craft, read and crochet along with sewing. This blog will probably have a little bit of all mentioned. My favorite type of cosplay is Harry Potter and the world that J. K. Rowling has created.

Dragon scales?
My friend and I are brainstorming on a costume for her to wear to the next comic-con. She is wanting a mashup of steampunk and dragon. I found this pattern, its Butterick B5580 and I thought it was fantastic.

Magical Creatures
Just wanted to show off the cute little creatures from Harry Potter that I crocheted from patterns I ordered from Britni Husband off of Ravelry.com.
If you have looked at my other post of Professor Sprout you will see that there is a Mandrake included with her cosplay. I didn't like the crocheted leaves on the pattern, so I went and picked out some silk ferns. I think it makes it look more realistic. I picked up a terracotta pot and printed out the mandrake label off the internet.

And here is my pesky Cornish pixie that I crocheted. The pattern is from the same lady metioned above. I have him displayed in a cage that looks like it is about ready to tip over because he definitely wants to start some mischief. I didn't like the crocheted wings that were part of the pattern, so I found some on the internet. I enlarged them and printed out two sets and glued them together and then pinned them on the back.
As Lockhart would say, "Pesky Pixie Pesternomi"!

Belle from Beauty and the Beast
Belle from Beauty and the Beast
Several years ago, my daughter was able to dress up for Halloween at her high school. They also had a costume contest. She decided to go as Belle. What immediately came to my mind was the yellow ball gown. However, she wanted to take a different approach and go with the early Belle, before she meets the Beast. Well, that costume was definitely easier to make.

See Luminere in the basket. |
On stage. She dressed it up with a basket, a stick of bread, a book, and a Lumiere plushie. |
She looked like Belle and it made winning the contest easy. |
