Comic-Con

Here are a few pictures of me and my friends in all our Harry Potter cosplaying glory. This was my first Con and I have to say that I enjoyed myself. I was only there on Saturday, but it was a long day. We didn't win the costume contest, but hey, you can't win them all. We had fun and that is what counts.

Carrie and Shanna looked great as Molly Weasley and Professor Sprout.

I found Professor McGonagall at the Con. We were a hit and had several people take our photo.

Here I am on stage for the costume contest trying to give my best Snape impression.

Here is the photo that Wizard World Comic Con took before I went onstage. Not a big fan of the bright green. lol I think a castle photoshopped behind me would be appropriate. Or a Potions classroom.

Professor Sprout costume

Professor Sprout

This weekend is Comic-Con here in Tulsa. I will be going as Severus Snape. Two of my friends are going as well, dressing up as other characters from Harry Potter. One friend will be wearing the Molly Weasley costume and my other friend will be wearing Professor Sprout.
The Sprout costume is making its debut. I just got finished with it last night. I will be posting more pics of the three of us in our HP attire.

It's looking good. When I took this I needed to hem it and add the pockets.

All the accessories that will go with Sprouts costume. The Mandrake was crocheted by me from a pattern purchased on Ravelry.com. The collar is a paisley material with tassel and fringe detail. The wand is a Hermione wand. I didn't know what Sprout's wand was. It has a pretty vine detail and thought it appropriate for Sprout. And then the awesome hat.

The hat is fashioned over top of an existing straw hat. It has attached earmuffs.

Sleeve detail is appliqued pieces cut from an antique table cloth. Two part pocket added.

                                                          Fully lined.

Detail on the sleeves. They are open under the arm. Attached from front yoke to back yoke. Decorative tie is approximately at the elbow. I have had this brown fabric for years. I can't remember exactly what it is. I think it is a wool blend. The lining is cotton.

Molly Weasley costume

Here is my cosplay for Molly Weasley. This was made for the Deathly Hallows I midnight premier. My daughter is cosplaying a Hogwarts student.

Isn't this sweater one of the most awesome things you have ever seen. I wear it out and about occasionally and get many compliments when I do.

Severus Snape costume

Me cosplaying Severus Snape from Harry Potter. I made this costume for the Deathly Hallows II midnight premier. I have so much fun playing Severus. Now if only I could get down the British accent.

Introduction

Sutura Magicae

It literally means sewing magic. This blog will be a showcase for all my varied costume endeavors.

I have been sewing for about 25 years. I enjoy the fantasy and science fiction realm. I like to craft, read and crochet along with sewing. This blog will probably have a little bit of all mentioned. My favorite type of cosplay is Harry Potter and the world that J. K. Rowling has created.
